How can I apply to be a student worker in the library?

Answer

Yes, we do have student workers in the library! Their primary job responsibilities inclue:

  • Shelving Books

  • Assisting students at the circulation counter: checking books out and checking in returned books

  • Assisting students with printing

We normally begin the hiring process in the first few weeks of the semester. See the process below for applying:

  1. To work in the library, a student must first qualify for financial aid and work study. Visit the Financial Aid Office for more information.
  2. After your application for work study is approved, you will need to request to work in the library.
  3. You will be provided with a list of qualifications needed to begin the library student worker application process. These include the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, demonstrate strong English language and basic writing skills, and possess basic computer skills.
  4. If you meet the qualifications, you will be invited to complete a tutorial about working in a library, take a test, and participate in a brief interview.
  5. We will contact you to let you know if you have been selected to work in the library. There are often more applicants than available positions, but if you are not selected, we encourage you to try again next semester :)

If you have questions, please contact the Circulation Desk: evc.circdesk@evc.edu.
