Can I get textbooks from the library?
The library has some popular course textbooks to borrow for 2-hour in-library use and a limited amount to checkout for longer periods.
Answer
Yes, the library offers textbooks for short term loan, but it does not have textbooks for every class. Students can search to see if their textbook is available to be borrowed from the library, using the library's catalog textbook search. These particular textbooks are known as reserve books.
Most textbooks can be borrowed for two hours (only for use in the library). However, we also have a limited amount to borrow for 3 days or the entire semester. Borrowing textbooks from the library is free, but textbooks on reserve cannot be reserved or held. They are loaned on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The library offers semester long checkout of etextbooks on Amazon Fire tablets. These cannot be downloaded to or sent to personal devices. Students must check out the tablet with the loaded etextbook. To see a list of available titles, view our etextbook collection. This collection is organized by subject. Select the subject of your class to see a list of available titles.
Students can also buy or pay to rent textbooks from the bookstore.
