Can I borrow textbooks for my classes from the library?

Answer

Print Textbooks
Yes! We have textbooks for EVC classes that you can borrow for free with your student ID. Unfortunately, we do not have every textbook available, but we do have a large collection. Most textbooks can be borrowed for two hours (only for use in the library). However, we also have a limited amount to borrow for 3 days.

eTextbooks
Additionally, we have Amazon Fire tablets loaded with etextbooks that you can checkout for the semester. These cannot be downloaded to or sent to personal devices. Students must check out the tablet with the pre-loaded etextbook. To see a list of available titles, view our etextbook collection. This collection is organized by subject. Select the subject of your class to see a list of available titles.

Checking out textbooks
To borrow a print or etextbook, you must request the textbook at the library's front desk and check it out using your student ID card. Borrowing textbooks from the library is free, but textbooks on reserve cannot be reserved or held. They are loaned on a first-come, first-serve basis. You may only check out one textbook at a time.

Students can also buy or pay to rent textbooks from the bookstore.

To see if your textbook is available to be borrowed from the library, search our catalog using the textbook title or author. Not sure how to do that? No problem! Ask a librarian for help!
